Blogger Tips : Fixing Undefined Dates

I noticed there are a lot of Pinoy Bloggers out there in the blogging universe. A lot of us are using blogger.com as the hosting site for our blogs. From my previous post, I've discussed some blogging ideas like the difference between adsense-optimized blog and passion blog, adding photo slider widgets, shortening URLs, etc. On this post, I'll be discussing some minor fixes regarding the downloadable blogger templates.

Most of us are experimenting with different blogger templates that can be easily downloaded in the world wide web. Why are we doing this? One reason, because the predefined blogger templates are very common, very limited and very simple (no special design whatsoever). We want our blogs to stand out from the rest. We want our blog/s to attract more readers/clickers (just to clarify, I'm not saying that if we use the predefined blogger templates we'll not be able to attract more readers okay?). Creating a nice looking blog a good SEO will do the trick of having a semi-passive cash machine. Please take note, that if you're a newbie in blogging and you want to earn fast, don't change the template right away. Kindly prioritize posting articles.

Okay. Let's say you're not a newbie in blogging and you want to design the layout of your own blog. However, you don't know how to create HTML scripts. Don't be sad. There's still hope. Google is the key. Just google free blogger layout in the search bar and this will do the trick. You'll select from thousands of free blogger layouts available.

However, I noticed that some of the free blogger layouts available when copied and pasted in the layout>>Edit HTML, something unexpected will happen particularly in viewing the blog. An undefined portion appears. Click here to view an example.

Did you notice the undefined portion? It's an eye sore right? Supposedly that portion should be the date part.

So how do we fix it?

Simple. Follow these easy steps.

1. Go to Dashboard>>Blogger Layout>>Page Elements.
2. On the blog post portion, click on Edit.
3. A pop-up window will appear. On that pop up window you'll see a lot of check boxes. On the third check box change the time format into long date (e.g. Tuesday, December 15, 2009). The long date is the fourth option in the drop down list.
4. Click on Save and then view your blog.
