For the past couple of days, I’ve been learning from Seth Godin through his book entitled Linchpin. After finishing the book, I realized a lot of things.

On this post, I’ll be discussing one particular topic I like (well there are a lot of topics I like) about Seth Godin’s latest book Linchpin.

Here’s a tip from Seth, if you want to be successful business man you have to share your products for free.

Sounds weird? Yes. That’s what I thought at first as well.

Here’s the reason why, we’ve come to an age where in commodities are competing to be the best products at the lowest cost possible. That’s why we have manufacturing plants that create systems so that they can have more items at a lowest possible cost.

If all commodities are competing on the lowest possible cost then we will come to a certain point where in the commodities will be given for free. Yes. You read it right, for free. Actually, that what’s happening right now.

Let me share a story about Kerygma Magazine.

Kerygma Magazine is a widely read inspirational magazine in the country. It’s been circulating the country for the past 20 years.

Six years ago, Bo Sanchez saw the signs that the magazine will be replaced by the internet. He decided to create a virtual community where in members can read the magazine online – for free.

There were a lot of critics saying that the publication of the magazine online will cannibalize the magazine. Thus will reduce the sales brought about by the physical magazine. But after six years, Kerygma Magazine is still in circulation. The magazine continuously blesses the offline world. Not only that, the members of the virtual community wanted to donate to the ministry because they’re blessed by the stories in the KerygmaFamily.com.
