Apple's Biggest Announcement : Apple Launches the iPad

Here's the latest news from Steve Jobs' update a couple of minutes ago.

Steve Jobs started the update by talking about the current sales and numbers. He talked about the number of Apple stores, number of iPod sold, etc. He said that Apple's focus are on the three product lines for mobile (laptop, iPods, iPhones).

He then asks, is there a room between smartphone and laptop? Something that handles email, Photos, Videos, Music, Games, eBooks?

Jobs pulled out the iPad. About the size of an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper. Very thin.

iPad has the following specifications:

• 9.7 inch display
• Touch screen
• 1.5 pounds, 0.5 inches thick
• 1 ghz apple A4 chip, 16 to 64 GB flash storage
• WiFi 802.11n
• Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR
• Speaker, Microphone, 30-pin connector
• Accelerometer, Compass
• 10 Hours of active battery life, 1 month of battery life on stand by
• Earth-friendly!

Jobs said the iPad will also be better for reading books, playing games and watching video than either a laptop or a smart phone. The iPad comes with software including a calendar, maps, a video player and iPod software for playing music. All seem to have been slightly redesigned to take advantage of the iPad's bigger screen.

Apple's Biggest Announcement : Apple Tablet PC

There's going to be a big announcement this week. Apple will be launching their new product the Apple Tablet iPad. Steve Jobs will be making his announcement 2:00AM Thursday Manila time.

Here are some expectations about the Apple Tablet iPad.

• A 10- to 11-inch tablet
• somewhat resembling the iPhone hardware
• running a substantially expanded version of the iPhone OS
• probably called iSlate or iPad
  
• with a new, non-QWERTY interface
• possibly available in two versions, LCD and OLED
• with Wi-Fi and 3G data connections. 

So what do you think? This is a good device right? I think they will be competing against Amazon's Kindle. But anyway, there's a lot more Apple news coming out by that time so be ready.

Before Steve Jobs will announce Apple's new product iSlate, Seth Godin already licensed Vook the rights to Unleashing the Ideavirus so they can convert it into a multimedia app. It should be finished before the tablet ships, so Seth's team intends to be ready when they are.
